I love you, PG, for starting a thread on my favorite Jake movie! (well besides BBM) They are still tied for number 1.
I saw that the DVD sales for PoP are thru the roof! www.movieweb.com/news/NEfcjq3FRTo2ii hah, I knew it was going to be more popular than it appeared from the domestic box office returns. Also, the rentals for it are number 1 as well. ;D
This is one of my favorite caps from the movie

Well, obviously I am alone in my adoration of PoP here, but regardless of said solidarity, here is a fabulous review of the blu ray. I wish more of the original critics had talked about it like this, then maybe we would be having a sequel... This Movie might not be the first where Jake Gyllenhaal doesn’t play a geek, but its one of his best. In Disney’s “Prince of Persia, Sands of Time” producer Jerry Bruckheimer creates a dazzling ancient Persia, full of amazing landscapes, beautiful cities, and impossible physics. Dastan, an adoptive prince of Persia comes into contact with a legendary dagger that can turn back time. Aided by Tamina, the princess of the sacred city “Alamut”, he goes on a wild adventure to return the dagger to it’s rightful place. The movie is based on the videogame by the same name, created by Jordan Mender. The film doesn’t follow the game’s storyline exactly, but the screenwriters did a great job creating a good, compelling story. The plot twists and turns, but isn’t as confusing as other films, such as “Donnie Darko” (also featuring Gyllenhaal ). The VFX are top notch, and it’s difficult to distinguish Between the Moroccan Location and the CGI stage. One slight complaint is that there is a slight over-use of slow motion. The blu-ray that was recently released for this movie offers many interesting behind the scenes. One of the Best features is that one can watch the film as normal, but a dagger icon will appear on the screen. The viewer can decide whether to watch a Behind the scenes for that clip, or not. The extras and picture quality are stunning, but I cant say anything for the DVD as I haven’t viewed it yet. All in all, the blu-ray, DVD and digital copy bundle is well worth the money. I'm too stressed out; I choose to think of Jake Gyllenhaal over everything.

To be honest, at first I was quite cynical about Prince of Persia cause it's based on a video game. Even when I learned that it was Jake Gyllenhaal in it. I've always been a huge fan, but please. At one point, I was about to let this one pass.
But then I knew I missed him. I kinda lost Jake for a certain period. His last movie I saw in cinema was The Day After Tomorrow, and years after that I caught Rendition on cable.
So cynicism aside, there I went, with two bags of caramel popcorn in my hand. Surprisingly, I liked the movie. Not so overwhelmed by the story, but it was indeed very entertaining. The actions were good, the special effects were decent. And Jake, with all buffed and tanned and long hair, mostly appeared dirty and unrecognizable.. couldn't say it's my favorite look, but I didn't mind. He's matured, but the manner I first caught in Bubble Boy, the one that I adored so much, he surely still got it here. He's just way sweeter than the popcorns I chewed. He made me recalling why I liked him at the first place.
And of course I bought the DVD. It gets better and better with repeat viewings.
It's not his best movie, but Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time holds a special place in my heart, as the movie that made me re-falling in love with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Two of my fave clips:

A little off topic...sry. I just Googled myself (yes I'm bored) and Google images displayed 2 POP images under my name. WTF?! At least Jake and I are *slightly* connected in the Google world?? On a seperate note, it is downright terrifying the amt of information I found about myself!!!

On a seperate note, it is downright terrifying the amt of information I found about myself!!! Hey Katie, that is too funny about the PoP images coming up under your name. I have googled my name before & discovered there are a couple of other semi-famous people with my name, (a very elite photographer & the other a pianist), & they also have my name domains with dotcom or dotnet so I can't use either. If you google me & look under the images, not one of those women are me, which is a good thing, I guess. It is a little unnerving & unsettling the amount of info on the net about all of us.

I know this is just a teeny bit late in coming, but I finally got my copy of F*** Magazine from Singapore that is one of the most gorgeous movie magazines ever printed. It is printed on heavy stock instead of newsprint stock like most mags. & is more like a huge book. Anyway, the pictures are really not anything more than we have already seen, but the writer did go to the set on Morocco when they were filming & did get a small interview with the main people there. Not a lot, but it is a little different than all the rest we've already seen. These pics are huge, so remember to click on the thumbnails & then click again to see them large.
