So I know there is already a thread dedicated to introductions, which is totally necessary and everyone should totally go over there and totally introduce oneself there first. BUT, I think it's sort of awkward going to a thread when you're completely or semi-completely new and introducing yourself to a bunch of strangers (granted, it's the damn internet, so what the hell?) and just ramble on about oneself. SO, I thought it might be more casual if we started a "getting to know each other" thread, as hereby deemed. Basically, just pop in, say your name, and other members can drop in and ask any other member any *reasonable* questions he/she would like. For example, I could ask Vanessa, "Hey Vanessa, so I always wondered, what is your occupation? What are some of your hobbies?" and then Vanessa, if she so inclined, can answer. This way, members would all get to know each other a little better without that awkward feeling of "what do I say about myself that could possibly include all aspects of my personality, all while not sounding like a vain twat?" This is probably a stupid idea, but it's worth a shot? So....I'll start, ask me anything! And I'll start with a question to Vanessa. "Hey Vanessa, so I always wondered, what is your occupation? What are some of your hobbies outside of Jake?"(wow, already this sounds like a terrible, creepy, intrusive idea...)

Nah, I kid. My real first name is Kristine. KD came about because my usual online pen name is "Kristine D." but when I first started posting at isj, I never thought I'd post more than once, so I just gave an abbreviated version! LOL. What do you know, right? I have a question for you, Sam. How long have you been a member of JW and ISJ? I see you're already Global Moderator, so I figure you are really very important to the franchise...or at least to Becky! (and a very wonderful, lovely moderator, at that! ) And also, a really random curiosity, but what's your favorite band?

Well... lets just say i remember the day that BPB started a thread over at IHJ asking us what we thought about a blog about Jake, that kinda just pays him out. Of course, i said BRILLIANT
Thats how long! lol
-Ive been a Jake fan since The Day After Tomorrow-
Favourite band, hmm...depends on the day really. Im not a HUGE music fan (im getting old and im not sure who is who anymore! lol) Im a bit more of a solo singer fan myself. But, i am going to a U2 concert in about a week and a half... My answer sucked!!!

THERE ARE NO WRONG ANSWERS HERE, BB.
Wow, that is a while!
My favorite band is Green Day. I just cannot find an artist to surpass them, although there are definite runner ups. I have a bunch of music from Aisha Duo, Vienna Tang, Chris Rice, Eminem, Beyonce, and John Legend.

What are some of your hobbies outside of Jake?"(wow, already this sounds like a terrible, creepy, intrusive idea...) Hah, I just now discovered this thread, KD, sorry I am so lame, I totally missed it until now. & what a great idea! We should have started this when we first started the forum, but better late than never. So, in answer to your question to me, I am in the mortgage business (major epic fail) & have been for 13 years, but love what I do, & don't know what else I could do at the moment.
My other loves besides movies are music, photography, reading, art, traveling, gourmet cooking, coffees, history, & electronics.
I totally love Green Day myself, 30 Seconds to Mars, Eminem, Beatles, Shinedown, Metallica, U2, Snow Patrol, Queensryche, KT Tunstall, No Doubt, Audioslave, Muse, Tool, Depeche Mode, & about a gazillion other bands. I don't care for CW, or gangsta rap, but oddly enough I do appreciate Taylor Swift's music. I know, slap me around & call me Susan. I can't help it, some of her stuff is actually pretty good. & something I totally have loved my whole life is soundtracks or movie scores. I LOVE classical symphonies, & when a score is really great, it can make or break a movie for me. So, is that a good start for ya? I see what you answered about yourself to Sam, but let me ask a question now. What are you planning on majoring in? Forgive me if you have already said somewhere, but I don't remember. I never got the chance to go to college myself & really regret that. I hope you do get to go to the college of your choice. I'm sure there are a lot out there for you to think about too. OK, I'm outta here for the night, got a big day ahead of me tomorrow. I am going to see Burlesque with my brother early & then head over to my best friends for Turkey Day dinner & a lot of drinks. Yippee... It will definitely be a large time! Have a great Thanksgiving day tomorrow! ;D

Holy crud, V, I totally love KT Tunstall and Depeche Mode. And I'm planning on Majoring in Cellular Biology with a emphasis on Wildlife/Environmental protection. I'm dream school would be UChicago or UWashington in Seattle, but those are far fetched dreams. Well, V, for never going to college, you sure are a success otherwise! I have a huge respect for people who are able to make it despite never getting a higher education. Plus, a lot of me believes higher education is partly baloney. Some of the wisest people I've ever met never went to college, and some of the laziest, most self-absorbed twats I've known went to the best of the best. Total BS. I HOPE EVERYONE IS HAVING A GREAT THANKSGIVING. I'm currently cooking cream of corn atm. LOL.

oh HELL no, Sam. There is no way you don't know what Cream of Corn is. It's only the most delicious corn dish in the world!!! (and one of my personal all time favorites!)
Gulliver's Creamed Corn
2 (20-ounce) packages frozen corn 1 cup (8 ounces) whipping cream 1 cup (8 ounces) milk 1 teaspoon salt 6 teaspoons granulated sugar Pinch of white or cayenne pepper 2 tablespoons melted butter 2 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1. Combine all ingredients, except butter and flour, in a pot and bring to a boil. Simmer 5 minutes. 2. Blend butter with flour, add to the corn, mix well and remove from heat.
Serves 8.
Variation: Put finished corn in heat proof casserole, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and place under a broiler until evenly browned.[/color] It's basically a corn dish that combines sauteed corn with melted butter, flower, milk, and cream. It is DIVINE and goes FANTASTIC with Turkey, Cranberry Sauce, and traditional stuffing.

Well, no problem then. Your loss! (LOL, I kid)
I'm pretty much up for eating anything. Being Asian, I'm sort of used to eating strange combination...then again, last night I had an Italian dish of Proschuitto and Mellon...and that was just nasty. Hahaha.

I got a couple... V- do you have any kids? KD- what the hell is cream of corn! lol Sorry Sam for the late reply. I have been super busy for the past few days & am back from a long day today with my buddies & saw LAOD for the 2nd time. I dare any Jake fan to not love this movie! I can't wait for you to finally get to see it.
As for your question, yes, I have one son & 3 grandkids. I know, I'm not your normal grandmother, but I am still 21 in my head & always will be.
& KD, that cream of corn sounds delicious!!! I am a big fan of that & corn pudding that we make here in Texas. Very similar. Sam, you should try it if you like corn, that is, it is excellent.
