OK, I thought I would start a discussion to see what movies everyone is interested in seeing that are coming out in the next few months or so. What are you looking forward to? Any new trailers that have you chomping at the bit? Or maybe drooling enough to fill a bucket? Put a link or youtube video here & tell us what you think. I went to see The Social Network today for the 2nd time & yesterday saw The Town, the day before I saw Legend of the Guardians for the 2nd time, & saw several trailers that I really liked. Oh & BTW, I FINALLY saw the trailer for LAOD today with Soc. NW. I can NOT wait to see that damn movie! But this thread is about upcoming NON Jake movies that look interesting. & of course, I am anxiously waiting for Harry Potter & the DH part 1, so I won't mention that one here. That's just a given for me.
Again I saw the trailer for Life As We Know It for the umpteenth time & even though it is just your typical rom com, I really want to see it, it just started this weekend. I adore Josh Duhamel & like Katherine Heigl too, so this will be a must see, not to mention JD is hot as hell in this movie. ;D
One that starts this Friday that I will see on opening weekend is RED. I saw a trailer for it again today & just to see Helen Mirren mow down people with a 50 cal machine gun is well worth that ticket. She rocks!
For the CGI 3D type movie, I really want to see Megamind. With Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt & Tina Fey, how can you go wrong? The trailers for it look excellent. [/b] FYI, if anyone wants to post a YT video here, it won't embed the normal way, all you have to do is click the little "Tube" icon here & then copy & paste the url link from the video & put it between the little "youtube" brackets that pop up. Unfortunately, it only works with YouTube videos & not from other video sites.

Gonna single out this one among many others:
King Caspian in 3D. In December. Awesome.
*edit to replace the link with the embedded one. This is the international trailer that I saw in 3D also.

Definitely joelliea, I loved the first 2 movies & am a big Ben Barnes fan anyway. So, I am really looking forward to this one. I saw the trailer yesterday when I went to see Harry Potter. It looks excellent!

Vanessa, it looks breathtaking. From the trailer, when you see the river full of flowers, the big blue wave, even the monster .. 3D never looked this attractive since Avatar.

I want to see Tangled too. It opens here on Wednesday the same day as LAOD, so I'll have to see it later. I totally adore Zachary Levi, (AKA Chuck), he is so funny.
I saw Harry Potter on Friday & RED last weekend, Life as We Know It a couple of weeks ago, but haven't yet seen Megamind. Those were 3 I posted about when I started this thread a while back. I still want to try to catch Megamind in theaters, there are just so many movies I want to see!
I also want to see The Next Three Days, I totally love Russell Crowe & this looks really intense:
& The Tourist with JD & Angie:
& this one with Natalie Portman, Black Swan:

I literally have a page long list of movies I'm itching to see. People have named a few already: Tangled, Black Swan, Tron, Chronicles of Narnia...
Oh, and Vanessa, don't waste your time on RED. I saw it when it came out in theaters and it was dreadfully disappointing. Totally unmemorable.
Here are a few I'm excited for:
I Love you Phillip Morris
Rango
and the standards: Pirates 4, Hangover 2, Thor, Kung Fu Panda 2...

Oh, and I have a movie recommendation for everyone. IDK if this is the right thread but.... It's a film called Leaves of Grass written and directed by Tim Blake Nelson and starring Edward Norton. Here's a synopsis: "An Ivy League professor is lured back to his Oklahoma hometown, where his twin brother, a small-time pot grower, has concocted a scheme to take down a local drug lord" (IMDB) And if anyone is yet not persuaded, here's a review I wrote for the film on my blog: "We had a blast making the movie, therefore, you can have a blast watching the movie."
Tim Blake Nelson really does accomplish what he set out to do with Leaves of Grass, a surprisingly and inspiring film about the juxtapositions in life that exists in every individual. While this film does have its flaws, mainly during the resolution of the film, the thing I love most about this subtle and understated film is the visual style in which it was shot. The contrast between the setting of New England - posh, cool, ordered - in contrast with the rural atmosphere of Oklahoma - rustic, warm, chaos - really sets the stage for the characters Bill and Brady Kincaid, both of whom are played by the always talented and present Edward Norton. (♥) And while I could take ages about how fantastic Norton is here, playing two dynamic characters so flawlessly and seamlessly, the true break out here in Nelson. What's wonderful about the script is the astonishing visceral plot. While outwardly a sort of understated, yet outlandish, comedy and drug drama, at the core of the plot is spiritual and moral rhetoric. Communicating the idea of understanding and accepting one's root is juxtaposed by the lightness of tone and the black irony and wit in which events play out. Not much is answered in the film, and the ending left me feeling unsatisfied and unresolved. The deaths of several characters felt almost too casual and quick to really be memorable, and yet these flaws are exactly what makes this movie an accomplishment. The film doesn't set out to answer questions, but to pose them. And all the while, allowing the audience to laugh along, not taking itself too seriously in the process.
The ending scene is perhaps one of my favorite in my personal cinematic history. While certainly not a perfect film by any means or measures, Leaves of Grass is in my humble opinion an astounding accomplishment for Tim Blake Nelson and Edward Norton. I know I'm totally trying to sell this movie to you guys, who probably don't even care, but it's a really great film that I think should have gotten more exposure and a wider release.

Killer idea for a thread Vanessa!! Right now I'm anxious to see 127 Hours. Just saw Morning Glory on Monday...it was meh though I love Rachel McAdams. Wouldn't mind seeing Tangled. I'm intrigued by Black Swan but I might be too much of a wimp to actually see it. I know this thread is mainly for upcoming movies but I have to say I watched Dead Man Walking the other day and it was the best movie I've seen in a long time!!! Everyone should check it out if you haven't yet. It came out a long time ago but I just saw it.

KD & NSA, I have been wanting to see 127 Hours too, I love James Franco. It is on my long list of films to see before the end of the year.
I also adore Ed Norton & am still pissed that he got dumped as Hulk. I do like Mark Ruffalo, but really??? I just don't get that & Ed should be the Hulk, period, end of story. I feel the same way about Spidey. That should be Maguire, dammit. I wish they would quit fucking with our favorite people & movies.
On another note, I do plan to see Leaves of Grass, I Love You, Phillip Morris, & Rango. I have been nuts about Johnny Depp since long ago when he was on 21 Jump Street & have followed his career ever since. So, that will be a fun movie as will The Tourist.
Katie mentioned Morning Glory, I also love RM, so I was considering going to see it, but haven't had the chance yet. So, you think it wasn't that great, then? I may just wait to see it on DVD. There are just so many movies & I know I am not going to be able to see all of them before they are gone. But I will sure give it one hell of a try! ;D

DO IT Vanessa! Leaves of Grass was just hilarious. I totally loved it, even if it did have it's flaws. Edward Norton was the first actor I've ever diligently followed. I, too, was pissed to learn Ed had been replaced. ESPECIALLY since I'm a HUGE Marvel fan (I've read the Astonishing, Amazing, and Ultimate versions of Spiderman, Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and the Avengers) and have watched ever single adaptation of The Hulk, including the 80s tv show! Ed was by FAR the best Bruce Banner I've ever watched, and the 2008 Incredible Hulk was just that, INCREDIBLE. When I heard Mark is replacing Ed in the Avengers movie, I swore I would boycott that film. AS of now, I'm still sticking to that promise, although I might sway and watch it when it comes out at the Dollar theater instead of paying full price at least. I'm still enraged. In fact, I wrote a blog about it, in which I said, "Incredible" Bullshit What is this incredible bullshit going on here?
Edward Norton Booted from 2012 The Avengers?
"Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members," said Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige in a statement. "The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H., Chris E., Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented casts. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfills these requirements, and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks." I've never seen such ludicrousness. "Collaborative spirit"? Changing actors for a sequel DOESN'T WORK FOR THE TITLE CHARACTERS. Side characters, sidekicks, fine. That can be done, with some difficulty, but it still can be done. Hulk is a major part of The Avengers comic and Norton was the driving force behind the success of the 2008 The Incredible Hulk. This has ruined this much anticipated film for me. I don't know if I even want to watch the movie now. Hulk, aside from Iron Man, is my favorite member of the Avengers (although Captain America comes close), and I'm a huge Edward Norton fan.
And once again, LA Times has got one thing wrong. I'm picketing this movie until Marvel can prove to me that they can get someone to match Norton's level of talent to fill in for the beloved role of Hulk.
This is a gigantic mistake, Marvel Studios.
I'm so distressed I don't even want to blog about my day. GAH.
I've loved Johnny Depp since What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Edward Scissorhands.

Wow, KD, excellent blast of Marvel. I totally agree. What a bunch of cretins. EN is such a great actor, he was epic in Fight Club & American History X. 2 of my favorite movies he was in, beside Incredible Hulk. & I have always been a fan of Hulk myself even the old series too. I originally liked Eric Bana's Hulk before EN made his debut as Hulk. We can boycott, but it won't make any difference really. They will always win, stupid fuckwads.
Oh well, it's like another thing I have noticed lately also, that a lot of good old classics that I love are being remade. Stupid Hollywood hacks. They can't come up with anything original anymore??? Shit.
& Gilbert Grape & Scissorhands, HUGE favorites of mine. GG was the 1st time I ever saw Leo & he was unbelievable. Been watching his career ever since too. I'm also a Tim Burton fan, he & JD are a really good match, I think.

I used to be a big Tim Burton fan, but then his films and his style got to be sort of repetitious, especially his more recent animated films. Plus Alice in Wonderland sucked big time.
JD and Leonardo DiCaprio are some of my favorites. My favorite Leo film, of all time, has to be Man in the Iron Mask though. Titanic is second. You know Leo was cast as Gatsby in the remake of The Great Gatsby? And Carey Mulligan is Daisy...and TOBEY MAGUIRE IS NICK CARRAWAY. This will either be totally amazing or a total mock fest. I'm scared.
