I hope I don't sound like a pessimist or someone who is trying to discourage Becky's/ISJ's expansion but I must admit I'm not too fond of the changes that ISJ has undergone if for one simple reason. And that reason is that since the changes, the whole site and community has felt less connected to me. I remember before the changes and the creation of the forum that all discussion went directly into the comments of Becky's always enjoyable posts. I felt I got to know all the readers and felt more updated with everyone. Perhaps it's my fault though because I can't keep up with all these different threads, but that's my small, insignificant, and probably un-welcomed complaint. I wish I could be a better member/fan. Sorry for being such a downer. I'll probably regret posting this later on... And to apologize for being the only jerk in the group, here's some gifs. I still love ISJ and all you wonderful members! <3

First KD you gotta tell me where that first gif comes from - it already looks hilarious like that ... I bet I'd be ROFLOLMAO with that and tone purty pls I'm a bit with you - it feels a bit like ISJ fell a teenyweeny bit apart ... (sorry english is not my first language and I'm not sure if you can follow me (understanding wise)) I have trouble finding my own post to see if someone said something to me or what kinda news are around ... but then again I'm a blondike so it's all me being a dumb ass But I really come here almost everyday and the "original ISJ" and love it and love you guys *oy-damnthemtypos*

I used to open ISJ as my solely source for daily updates. Now, I need to keep up with scattered news around this forum as well. I often miss some updates here and there. Not that I'm complaining, but since mostly I use mobile due to limited net access at my home PC, my thumbs would probably give up scrolling the trackball down pretty soon. I'm pretty much aware that this forum is just at its beginning term. There'll be more and more good threads coming. Sure, I can choose not to click open all, but hey .. can't help it, it's irresistible

TOTALLY get what you guys are saying...
Firstly, i'm just interested -have you guys read the book?
Secondly, you gotta remember that Becky is now a one man team... It's a HELL of alot of work to update a blog daily, we gotta remember she has a life and needs to make a living too...
I too miss daily updates, but then at the same time i know Becky is a human and can only do so much and am thankful for what she does do.
Dont worry about or regret any posts you make. Becky opened this forum so that we could be honest and talk, not so that we could all praise her!!! Thankyou KD for being honest!

I understand where all of you are coming from and I really appreciate KD being honest in bringing this topic up. Other members have mentioned this to me privately, but I think it's good to have a public discussion, too, because obviously more people felt this way than I thought... "Scattered" is the perfect way to describe this forum. It is. Threads get started and go off in different directions, there's no organization for the news, and *I* can't keep up with it all. A major reason I started this forum was so that you guys could be the ones sharing the big news among yourselves (I never wanted to be a site where I updated with every article or picture...and yet that's what I felt I was becoming to keep up with what I thought your expectations were). I never searched for the news anyway (and never have!), so it was an enormous burden on me to update every day when I honestly hated doing it. And now I'm 110 times happier and all of you aren't. So let's talk through this! I will probably only update the blog two to three times a week, and it'll rarely be a "news brief" when I do, so I want it to be easy to get your daily fix here. What are you most interested in? News? Pictures? Just talking about Jake? Let's reformat this forum to be what you want it to be. Maybe more movie discussions and fewer posts with articles about Jake? (Since there's no real news right now anyway...I know I frequently skip over the news threads just because it's overwhelming to sift through to something I'm interested in.) Maybe more interactive stuff, like the Caption It thread? Maybe I should remove some of the off-topic boards because it's too much for us when we're still small? This forum is definitely a work in progress and it's something I've not had the time to really work on like I should (I don't even have a signature yet!!) as these past few weeks for me have been very hectic. But it is VERY important to me that we make the best of things because I don't want to lose any of you!!! So just let me know...

If you start on the home page on The Forum, at the bottom is the Info Center and the first block is "View the 10 most recent posts of this forum". I often start there to see which thread members have commented in; the latest posts are also bolded on the far, right-hand column under "Last Post". This should help you find which thread has the latest entries. I am more interested in some threads than others, so I focus on those entries. As far as us becoming more diffuse or scattered, yeah it's true, but that doesn't mean we're not still here. (You can also see which members are or have recently been online at the bottom on the home page.) I used to belong to forums that were much larger than this one and I still found my way around. It's just a matter of becoming familiar with this. We are here because we love Becky, Prophecy Girl, and JakeWatch. Becky is very talented and JW was funny because she is. We all have to move on sometime and Becky needed to move on from JW and I'm Stalking Jake. In her book she mentioned the many hours that can go into a single post. I posted a couple photos the other day and even that takes a lot of time. I started a thread called Oh No S/He didn't! imstalkingjake.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=50Let me know if you agree with my assessment!

Same here - my fix is with the news... but they are scattered - just a thought but maybe we can make one thread for every month like Jake (or whateverelseinteresting) news Oct 2010 and whilst the news come in just post it in there ... and talk there too And yes I'm here because of PG (and the other commenters on ISJ) and will stick around I didn't expect you to update this forum daily or even the blog actually - tho I loved the treat ... I'm happy if you are happy PG ... It just takes me some getting used to and learning to find the threads that are most interesting to me in a new forum ... and in time we all will learn to be organized in this too

SCATTERED. THERE'S THE WORD I WAS LOOKING FOR.
I totally agree that Becky is way too busy to be updating a blog every day and keeping a constant watch on this forum, which is why I was reluctant to even voice my thoughts initially. But I figured I should be honest with why I haven't been posting as much as I used to.
And yes, I have been reading the book. I'm about half way through and am RAGING against Stephen Gyllenhaal and Cantara.
I'm not really here for the news either. Anything big will show up in the newspapers or online where its easily accessed. I think Becky explained why I came originally in her book. I came to read her spin on the news, but also to interact with other fans as well. It's not so much that I mind the forum as its that I can't figure out how to keep up. Too many forums happening in too many directions. I think it might be better if the topics got more concentrated into broader categories.
For example: Jake Movies (General), Subcategories with each movie, Jake News, Questions about Jake (General/Movies, etc) and an overall Humor category?
Actually, that's a pretty lame idea. Scratch that.

Just search "Jake Gyllenhaal" and it's one of the first results. I love gifs and macros. They express things so much better than words sometimes. LOL.

I think this complaint is not posted for judging PG’s decision, either on ISJ or on the forum. Whether I have or haven’t read the book, I get it how hard and time consuming it was for her to provide something for us to read on ISJ. Posting (news) is one thing. Writing a post interesting and engaging in a stylish way is another thing. At the first time, it’s what makes ISJ special to me. Then at the second time, I find it more amusing because of the comments posted in there. That adds some plus into the original post itself. You’re all having fun in one big container. You can throw everything into it, and you can dig in to the same place to find anything. And seems it’s very easy to connect to each other. That’s the point. Not the post frequency, but how it works instead. This connection, KD has mentioned it, is the one thing that will be quite difficult to maintain in a forum. I may be one of the newest follower, I have yet to connect to many of you. But for the ones who’ve been with ISJ longer, this may be frustrating. I understand the need to post/read posts and giving/receiving comments, the need to communicate. And being in a forum, we have to be very active. I imagine it’s like catching running water. If we don’t go fast enough, the water will just spill and our bucket will remain empty. If we want to be connected or to be recognized in a forum, we have to be everywhere. Literally everywhere. I’ve been in huge forum too, with thousand of members and endless streaming of threads. I couldn’t keep up, I read less and posted less. And the lesser it was, the more I felt lost and neglected. In the end, I gave up to that forum *lol*. As I said that ISJ forum was just at its beginning. The forum will be bigger. And that’s the picture I have in my mind for what might be like in here. To try to organize forum threads might work at certain level. But trust me it will keep scattering, it's the nature of a forum .. and administrators will end up tired of organizing. It’s a bit of downside compared to The Blog, but yea, I think we’ll accept it eventually. Let’s try our best to keep connected. Be that means I have to click on every thread till my thumbs/fingers go numb, and posting once in a blue moon. I had a choice to not joining into the forum, and I chose to join. Others do the same, I believe. Cause as much as PG doesn’t want to lose us, it’s vice versa. We want us to be happy. (A group hug! <3). And I have hopes, I’ll be sticking around until I get my title upgraded as high as it can. Hyaaaaaah!! p.s. I like Gay Cowboys and Stupid Man Suits.

joelliea, you're very right that things will change as the forum grows and that it's a hell of a lot to keep up with. And maybe I'm making that worse because I'm trying to start a few new threads here and there so that perhaps some different types of discussions will get going and people will talk more amongst themselves. In forums that I've participated with in the past, though, over time people often start hanging out on certain boards and finding people with common interests and stronger connections happen. We're definitely not there yet, but that's what I was hoping for here. Not to overwhelm anyone, but to have something that where *everyone's* interests are catered to. And I agree that things were more concentrated in the comments section of the blog...but only to a certain degree. I found that most days, I was getting comments on 4 or 5 different posts throughout the day, with me missing things and other commenters missing things directed at them...I thought this might be easier because at least here, we're organized by topic and it's not like the blog where the main post goes to the next page after 14 days, regardless of who's commenting on it... And if you go back and read the comments, most of what was written was not about the post itself. It was between you guys! Talking about the stuff you're talking about here. KD, those are great ideas!! Seriously, if you feel like talking about something, start a thread and go for it. Especially with the movies, because right now we don't have a thread for every movie...maybe we should all watch one one night and have a big party and talk about it?? To be completely honest, it's both really flattering and really difficult to hear that it was the blog itself that drew people in and now that it's changed, everything else is changing too. The thing is...I'm still blogging!! I put up an entry over the weekend. I'll put up another one today or tomorrow. I'm working on the news situation, too. I know there are other Jake blogs/sites where you can get your news but I also know that even at the top of my game, I couldn't provide the type of coverage some of you were looking for, and not to mention, it is simply not possible to make Jake Gyllenhaal seem interesting every day. For the last half of Jake Watch, I was only posting about 3 times a week. And that's exactly the schedule we're back to now. So keep checking the blog (I'm still there!). Keep checking the threads you're interested in and don't feel like you have to keep up with everything (you don't!). Start threads when you see something missing. And the common theme I'm hearing right now is that you guys liked talking to each other and reading each other's comments as much as you liked reading my posts. So...I'm putting that back on you. ;D You can be the same people here as you are there!!

Oh, and I wanted to say one more thing...this may be obvious but it took me a few days to figure it out...when you log back into the board after logging out, all of the boards that have had activity since your last log in will have a little icon that says "New" to the left. And then after you click on any one board, each individual thread that has been updated will also have the word "new" to the side. If you click on the word "new" it will automatically take you to the start of all the posts that have gone up since you last logged in. Anyway, thought that was worth mentioning.
