I am totally rooting for Leighton Meester and Garrett Hedlund to get together. They are diving together. Listen to their duet, "Give into Me." Makes my heart melt. Easy A. is one of the funniest comedies of the year and really well done, very original as well. Plus it introduced me to Jessie J. who is such a phenomenal performer/songwriter. Tron Legacy was just so damn cool. The weak storyline and character development was totally fine since all I went to see was the updated Grid and the visuals. (I loved the first one though, as well. Jeff Bridges was hella awesome back then.) Black Swan was uncomfortable, disturbing, twisted, and very tense. I think it accomplished all it wanted to be - a frightening psychological thriller. They definitely modified the screen play though. A lot of the parallels between the White/Black Swan, Beth, Nina, and Lily were cut out. I saw Wanted recently. It's the most melodramatic, over-the-top, dumb, explosive comic book action flick. It's so much fun. I recommend it if you want something simple, easy, and fun to follow and watch. OMFG, I just saw Country Strong & I am a total goner over Garrett. I realized tonight that I have seen every movie he's ever been in, but he blew me away in this movie. I loved him in Tron, but this one was unfuckingbelievable. His voice is to die for & he sings so damn good, I actually appreciated the country music in this movie. & yes, he & Leighton should be together, their chemistry in this movie was huge.
Agreed on Black Swan, but I didn't read the script, so I don't know what got cut. I will see it again on DVD, so maybe they will have deleted scenes on it.
Tron, I really want to see again on the IMAX in 3D, it was gorgeous. & now I need to see Garrett again.
Wanted, I totally loved that movie, it was so over the top & super intense & fast, it was great. I am a McAvoy fan from way back though, so I love anything he's in really. Plus I am a big fan of AJ's. She was also great in Salt. If you like her & love action movies, that was pretty good & she did her own stunts.
I have Easy A in my queue to rent, so that will be one I will see soon enough. I really like Emma Stone from what I have seen her in so far too.

Glad you enjoyed Country Strong, Vanessa! Im kind of on the fence about seeing it. I also think it's interesting that they started marketing it through the Garrett/Layton relationship. Probably cause they're more appealing than frigging Tim McGraw acting!! Oh and I rented Love & Distrust -- saw it in the shelf at Blockbuster and it had lots of good ppl I it (James Franco, Amy Adams, Sam Worthington) but it was TERRIBLE. It was what I guess was 5 short films all on one disk and I didn't even finish watching the whole thing, which never happens. So stay away, everyone! Happy Friday

^^^^ So, are you saying Garrett & Leighton are in a real relationship? If so, I didn't know about that, but I am not surprised with how their chemistry looked on screen, plus there were other reasons, which I won't say here because they are spoilers.
Anyway, as far as Love & Distrust, I am a huge fan of Sam Worthington, RPattz, Franco, Amy Adams, & RDJ, so I already had seen most of those shorts that were put into this DVD. I just think that was messed up that they marketed it like it was a new movie with all those stars. Of course, anyone renting or buying it not knowing what it really was, (since most were shot years ago), would be pissed off & not like it at all. I have been wanting to get a couple of those shorts on DVD for a while now & they were never available until this was released, so it works for me as I have a DVD collection going of a few of the actors in it. But otherwise, I can see why you & a lot of other people were very disappointed in it.

Hmm interesting...thanks for the info V About Garret and Leighton I just meant their on-screen romance in the movie. The first few trailers I saw focused mainly on Gwenyth and Tim so it was just interesting to me that they started promoting it with the Garrett/Leighton romance.

Well, I am trying to get down to see Blue Valentine some time this week, it has gotten such great reviews & being a fan of Gosling & Michelle, I really want to see it.
I have to say I was so smitten with Garrett Hedlund's acting & singing in Country Strong, I will be seeing it for a 3rd time tomorrow with my sister & brother. I know, I am crazy, but he is so damn good in that movie, I can't help myself.
Plus I am joining my sister next Wed to see him in Tron Legacy again at the IMAX. She hasn't seen it yet, & since I really loved the movie, good excuse to see it again before it's gone.
I got free prescreening passes for The Rite with Anthony Hopkins for Monday night, so it looks like I am going to be almost living at the theater this week!
I recently saw the trailers for the following movies that I am interested in too: Battle Los Angeles
Water For Elephants
The Adjustment Bureau

ANYONE WHO HASN'T SEEN PINEAPPLE EXPRESS NEEDS TO RENT IT/STREAM IT NOW.
James Franco + Seth Rogen + Marijuana + Buddy Comedy = Pure Slapstick Comedy Genius. It's like the more commercial friendly, dumbed down version of Leaves of Grass.
A+ rental idea. [/color]

JF totally kills it in this movie. It was his best movie ever besides 127 Hours. & Seth Rogan always cracks me up in every movie he has been in. Total hilarious nut.

I just have to put this somewhere & I thought this would work as well as any place. I was SO proud of Christian Bale winning best supporting actor not just for GG's, but also for the SAG's last night. He was absolutely brilliant in The Fighter. I also was not surprised one bit that Colin Firth won best actor for The King's Speech, again for both GG's & the SAG's. Excellent, superb performance. & if you have not seen either of those movies, I HIGHLY recommend both. Very different type of movies, for sure, but both great movies.
& of course Natalie Portman for Black Swan. I think it's a very safe bet she will take home the Oscar as well. Melissa Leo most likely will take the Oscar for The Fighter too. & I have to say her winning the GG & SAG for best SA was well deserved. It was nice to see Betty White win for best actress in a TV comedy series, too. She just turned 89 & that lady is still going strong! ;D

Just saw Blue Valentine. Really good film. Ryan did amazing. I suppose Michelle did too, just never cared for her. I kept wanting more of a story than the flashbacks offered.
I know I always do this but Ryan was so sexy in this. That boy=OMFG!! And I was so glad to see my Mikey Vogel, he was a nice surprise!
But yeah, def. one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

Well, I still have yet to see BV, & I want to so bad especially before the Oscars, I love Ryan & Michelle both. Hopefully I can see it before next Sunday.
I finally got to see Winter's Bone & The Kids are All Right on DVD. I liked both, did not think either deserved best picture noms & I don't feel like Jennifer Lawrence or Annette Bening deserve best actress noms either. However, Julianne Moore DID deserve the nom for best actress, so she was definitely robbed, although I feel like Natalie Portman deserves the win by a landslide. Annette just seems like she plays all her characters exactly alike in every movie, plus her character in this movie was very annoying, so it was very hard for me to warm to her at all. On another note, I totally adored Mark Ruffalo's portrayal of Paul as the sperm donor dad. He was excellent as usual & I think he did deserve a nom for best supporting actor, although I stand by my opinion that Christian Bale deserves that win totally for The Fighter.
Jennifer Lawrence did well in Winter's Bone, & her performance improved quite a bit by mid movie. In the first half, she just sounded so wooden, & the movie was so documentary like, so it was almost boring throughout most of it. I also have to say that NONE of the other characters with the exception of the 2 little kids, her uncle, & the sheriff, were worth watching. They were all horrible & despicable people. The actors that portrayed them seemed like they were not professional either, they appeared to be simple druggie backwoods trash that they maybe hired to portray those awful characters.
Anyway, now I am totally psyched about seeing Chris Hemsworth in Thor & can't hardly wait until May 6th! This movie looks like it's going to blow me away, (I admit it, I am a huge sucker for superhero movies). Check this out:
